The Bookkeeper directs the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting.
This position requires strong prioritization skills and taking initiative in order to deliver results.
The Bookkeeper will ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits.
This person will direct accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements.
This individual must be professional, detail oriented, organized and able to multi-task, meet deadlines and work well in a fast paced, high- growth office environment.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles Direct the daily tasks and operations of the accounting department including:
o month and end-year process o accounts payable/receivable o general ledger o payroll and utilities o budgeting o petty cash o cash forecasting o revenue and expenditure variance analysis o capital assets reconciliations o trust account statement reconciliations, o check runs o fixed asset activity o debt activity Coordinate and complete annual audits Provide recommendations to Senior Management Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing on-going training, and maintaining strong employee relationships Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy Meet financial accounting objectives Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions Skills and Competencies:
1.
Proven working experience as Bookkeeper, Accounting Supervisor and/or Finance 2.
Advanced computer skills on MS Office, Sage100, accounting software and databases 3.
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data 4.
Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations 5.
High attention to detail and accuracy 6.
Ability to direct and supervise 7.
Strong communication and organizational skills 8.
Strong written communication skills for correspondence, reports and other company materials 9.
Consistency in meeting deadlines 10.
Ability to work independently is important, and ability to work with a diverse group of people Minimum Education and
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required with concentration in Accounting or Finance; minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing environment.
